Cobray MOD. U/D Kit – .45LC / .410 Over/Under Pistol – 80% DIY Build Kit | Rare Survival-Style Snake Gun

🛠️ Description:

Offered here is a Cobray MOD. U/D ("Upper/Down") Pistol Kit, a rare 80% complete double-barrel build kit from one of the most iconic American gunmakers of the 1980s-1990s.

This compact, break-action pistol features over/under barrels and is chambered for both .45 Long Colt and .410 shotgun shells. Originally sold as a DIY kit, the MOD. U/D was marketed as a survival-style firearm—simple, rugged, and effective. It holds 2 rounds and opens break-action style for loading.

This kit includes most major parts and is ideal for collectors, machinists, or builders looking to restore a unique and discontinued design. It is not functional as sold and will require fitting, fabrication, and finishing.

🔧 Included Parts:

  • Over/under barrel assembly (.45LC / .410)
  • Frame halves (left & right)
  • Break-action latch/hardware
  • Trigger and hammer components
  • Grips (synthetic)
  • Assorted pins, screws, small parts
(See photos or ask for a detailed parts list)

Note: This is an 80% parts kit and may be missing some internal components (e.g. firing pin, spring). It is sold as a non-functioning kit for restoration, display, or project use.

📐 Specs:

  • Model: MOD. U/D (Upper/Down)
  • Caliber: .45 Long Colt / .410 Bore
  • Action: Single-action, break-open
  • Barrel Configuration: Over/Under (vertical double barrel)
  • Capacity: 2 rounds
  • Condition: Surplus (new old stock, unassembled)
  • Status: 80% complete kit – not a firearm

⚠️ Legal Notice: This is not a firearm and is not capable of firing in its current form. Completion may be regulated under federal or state law. Buyer is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.

🏛️ About Cobray & the MOD. U/D:

Cobray was known for producing affordable, bold firearms like the MAC-11, Street Sweeper, and other iconic designs that earned them a cult following. In addition to full firearms, they also sold DIY kits to the civilian market, like the MOD. U/D.

The MOD. U/D (short for "Upper/Down") stands out as a compact over/under double-barrel pistol, chambered in .45LC and .410—perfect for survival use or as a powerful backcountry sidearm. Its break-action design and dual-barrel setup made it a favorite among collectors of oddball or outlaw-era firearms.

These kits were never mass-produced in large numbers and are extremely hard to find today, especially in unassembled condition. This is a great opportunity to own a part of Cobray’s unique legacy.
